INTERPRETER
BRITISH EMBASSY LIBYA
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) team at the British Embassy in Libya is seeking an Interpreter. The main purpose of this role is to provide language and environmental support to the Defence Advisory Team (DAT).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interpret between English and Arabic for the Defence Advisory Team within the Embassy, at other locations around Tripoli and, on occasion, further afield.
• Translate documents between English and Arabic.
• Identify, develop and maintain links with senior figures within the Libyan MOD.
• Remain abreast of defence and security issues and developments within Libya and inform the Defence Advisory Team as required.
• This is a twelve month temporary contract.
• Five day week, Sunday to Thursday. A total of 40 hours per week.
The Interpreter will spend a proportion of their time at the British Embassy. However, they must have their own vehicle and be prepared to travel and work around Tripoli as required by the DAT. Locations will include, but are not restricted to, Ministry of Defence, Janzur Naval Academy, Mitiga Airbase and the Training Directorate. There will be occasions when the individual will be required to work from these locations for a protracted period. Willingness to travel is essential.
Salary: 2993 LYD per month.

• Organisational skills
• Excellent team-working and inter-personal skills
• Knowledge of defence and security issues in Libya
• Flexibility to move at short notice to work in different areas of the city
• Good IT skills
• A full and clean driving license
• Possess own transport
